Our forest is full of hidden treasure for the craftsman, artisan, or landscaper. In our natures closet, it is possible to find almost any unique natural work of art for most projects requiring something special. It is a deep love and appreciation for these treasures that inspires the need to see them live on.
If every piece we have were to be on this site there would be a million pages. Even though we don't have the time to put our forest on this site, we know where the treasure is. If we don't know where an item is, we will probably find it in no time.
The Heart of the Tree
We find that the most amazing grain patterns and shapes lie in the heart of stumps yet they are so many times pushed into a pile and burned. We rescue these gems of the forest and bring new life to them. Slabs that are brought from stumps are very unique by nature and cannot be described 100% making it difficult to convey their actual size and shape.

Unsurfaced Wood Slabs
The unsurfaced wood slabs we produce are a testimony to the beauty of the wood we are lucky enough to have available. There are certain pieces that are so unique in color and grain they wind up here to hopefully find the waiting craftsman. It is from this resource that we usually pull the materials for our own rustic elements and furniture.

Live edge elements add to the natural beauty of any project where you need to break from the norm. The live edge when properly finished can produce a wonderful look and feel that only nature could have made. Even if you cut the live edge off you still may find a use for it.
The materials we have at our disposal are mostly high elevation softwood with a limited amount of hardwood. We are expanding into the hardwood market so it is basically a question of availability from our sources. Our hardwood resource is still in its infancy, however we may be able to get exactly what you need.
Surfaced Wood Slabs
Surfaced wood slabs are ideal for tables of all kinds. Our wood slabs are a labor of love wherein we reveal age old beauty that has been hidden like a treasure for many years.
We start with the rough slab and strengthen any character aspects it may have such as cracks, splits, loose knots, voids, and other expected features in one large piece of wood. We accomplish this by installing bracing, bowties, and fillers with the best adhesives to ensure longevity.
We don't do any rocket science surfacing here but we do attempt to achieve as flat of a surface as possible. After surfacing with a hand plane we sand the surface to a 220 grit finish, and then seal it with your choice of interior or exterior sealer. Our has so much natural beauty in its deep striated grains that stains actually detract from it so we only stain these beauties upon request, and then with reservation.
You will receive your crated slab that is ready for the finishing touches in weeks from your order with instructions on how to finish it. There are a number of base configurations that can be utilized to support a slab table, and creativity is the key to success. We also produce bases so inquire as to our ideas if you would like us to handle that as well.
All fine finishes should be applied at your site by a professional painting contractor who is experienced in wood finishing. A great resource for such a contractor would be your local professional paint store.
