California Woods

Native American brings to mind the Indians who were the stewards of the American wilderness long before Europeans consumed the vast American Continent. Our valley is very rich with Incense Cedar known by the American Indian for its spiritual nature, health benefits, and exterior longevity. Along with the Incense Cedar grow an array of Fir, Pine, Mountain Oak, and Aspen.

Being Green is one of those things we all need to do today in what ever way we can. Most building materials have a very high carbon footprint not to mention how long it takes for them to become inert and be consumed by the earth. When properly managed wood is one of the best choices for a building material or for furnishings.

White Barn Millworks takes every step to utilize the wood products that purchase or harvest down to the smallest possible size. We have produced products with materials that have been re-utilized from several projects earlier. Conservation that is good business, and the environment.

Resource reclamation is something we are pursuing with all our wild land work. Materials we collect are deliberately selected for many reasons, from fuel source removal to bug infestation prevention. We look for wood that has not become habitat and that is still useable. As you can tell from our products, we have a way with finding some pretty amazing material to work with.

The Land of the Yahi

Our forests were the home of the Yahi Indians. It doesn't take long to understand why they chose our valley to live in. Tall majestic trees being fed by a myriad of springs, creeks, and volcanic soil nestled in a mountain paradise. Our wood has extra color, and we like to think it is a little of the Yahi spirit still living in the grain of the trees they enjoyed for centuries. Ishi was the last of the Yahi, and probably spent many hours in our forest.
